Jay-Z and me
Relax Beyonce! I just went to SEE him. Most people are really astounded when I tell them I went to see Jay-Z. They think it is a riot and it makes me believe they must really think I’m very square or too “mature.” Well let them laugh, I could care less. My young friend and I are taking each other to different sorts of things that go with our very different worlds. We are learning about each other’s worlds. He didn’t know that my two favorite kinds of music are opera and rap, but there’s still quite a bit he doesn’t know about me while I do know quite a bit about him. He is most devoted to helping his family and he quit his last year of college to come home and take care of his mother and grandmother. He works three different jobs and gets up at 4:30 every morning to get to them via bus and metro.
Anyway, he picked out my clothes for me to wear to Scott Trade Arena. Everything was black, with lots of sequins and new black jeans that are 7 for Mankind. I got these at a bargain price. Also, as accents, I had red sequin pumps, red sparkly jewelry and a red silk scarf. I got lots of compliments on my attire at a few stops we made along the way to the concert. We certainly didn’t need to buy any grass as the minute you got inside there was so much smoke you got a bit high right away. It was a huge crowd. Such excitement and enthusiasm! Great outfits especially on the women! It was a very wonderful place to be.
The concert started and there were two singers before Jay-Z. they were really talented but nothing compared to old Jay-Z himself! He is an outstanding performer. So very charismatic, dynamic, yet with a certain touch of gentleness.
The crowd stood and danced and sang and yelled. Oh it was indeed an event I shall always remember.
